Basketball history

Basketball is played wherever someone can get a ball & A Basket. Not like other sports that need a lot of people and a lot of gear Basketball only requires a Ball and the people that actually want to play. The First basketball game was on January 20th, 1892 in Springfield Massachusetts. James Naismith invented the game for the YMCA kids to play during the winter.
Naismith made rules for the game & some of his rules are still there today. Some of the rules have changed and new rules have been added. Naismith & the YMCA didn't have the money to make a new ball so they used a soccer ball. As the game was played for 30 minutes and the final score was 1-0.William R. Chase made the ball go into the peach basket, and became the first player to ever score in a basketball game.
Basketball grew in popularity and within a few years most of the YMCA centers in the Northern Eastern State & Southern Canada had facilities to entertain players. But within a decade of its invention most YMCA centers began to ban the game because of the rough style of playing. During this game someone suggested a name for Basketball.
